ima be real asf, ive used both x11 and wayland in the last year on both amd and nvidia, and i gotta say, x11 lowkey shitty for the average user in most use-cases, its kinda just generally a little jank and buggy comparatively.
as compared to just a few years ago i couldnt even launch a wayland session, or even think about it.
@oracle its not obsolete tho lmao, it works perfectly fine and its most recent release is relatively recent.
ive been running a 2700X for years and honestly ive yet to run into its limit, but again, i want to upgrade my server and i only make enough money for a slow upgrade path, not necessarily that im impatient but moreso that it simply doesnt make as much sense when i dont need the most powerfullest thing on the market.
the idea that modern = inherently better and slightly old = obsolete and useless is baffling and why this industry as a whole sucks ass
and modern is usually less supported and more buggy, i prefer known stable and solid ol reliable much more over shiny and new
i upgrade my anything when it becomes an actual issue for me, or when i justify it by upgrading my server (which is in a desperate state)
(also second hand market exists, and is where i get things, for much more cheap than msrp, so it is quite literally cheaper)
@oracle its not stupid :) if you consider that i like using my parts right away, theres no massive benefit to switching to am5 if i literally dont need to yet, im also POOR
@oracle i have an am4 board, its more economical, i can use the new cpu on my current board while i wait to purchase a new mobo, then use the old mobo and cpu for my server.
- cyberpunk: meh, its ok - quake 2 rtx: bad + quake shouldnt look like this + quake shouldnt run at 25fps, its QUAKE - minecraft (java + rethinking voxels): meh yeah, its alright, shadows are glitchy
