hm theres this mod idea that ive only seen used in a hacked client years ago and from what i can tell theres only one fabric mod that even comes close, and its for older versions.

forge side of things use a modern set of tools like MCP
MCP was solely for decompiling and deonfuscating minecraft
nowadays the toolchains are something like a decompiler (vineflower goat), and then the mappings (yarn(tiny mappings)/parchment/mojmap)
there are gradle plugins that facilitate pretty much all of this for you and allow you to run the game with your mod installed in the dev environment

@quat yeah yarn naming is generally better, and as a kotlin user, using yarn has been a far better experience than mojmap/parchment
