by "next while" i mean days. however long it takes for me to bother with looking into it for a proepr fix. may end up migrating back to sveltekit or reverting the supposed code cleanup that caused it

code split the mastodon api layer so if a non-mastodon connection gets introduced it doesn't load mastodon code
