@nellePoint I caused a lot of discourse in a discord server I was in (pre-election) because I shared an observation that the people who were discussing leaving tended to be white queer people. when that was combined with the word "privilege", a lot of people got super defensive
@disarray@nellePoint i'd say that's why it's mostly seen as not viable to leave, because what you'd be giving up would be not worth it. people who are vastly less wealthy, educated or able than the average american move all around the globe all the time, but the jobs they are willing to take are not worth it for most americans.

if the danger level rises , those ppl would still b unable to dk so
@fiore@disarray@nellePoint not with the ability, but the willingness. i know a couple with a russian wife and ukrainian husband, they left their family and friends behind and sold of all their belongings so they could move somewhere that's not ukraine or russia. they wouldn't have done that if there hadn't been a present danger of him dying at the front.
of course there's plenty of people who would have an extremely hard time leaving no matter what the danger is, but i think that number is less than most people think.
