minecraft datapacks are really cool but seem absolutely impenetrable to learn to create. this sucks.

@ieatbeees its really something ive only learned via modding for fabric (the old way and fabric datagen), looking at the minecraft default datapack, and using tools like misode.github.io and a plugin for intellij i cant seem to find

@nellePoint yeah i'm just trying to write a couple simple replacements for datapacks on a server i run that broke due to undocumented/poorly documented changes in 1.21.5. it is not fun. i think the main issue i have is that i have to touch too many different concepts to do one thing. so i don't really gain a good understanding of how to write an advancement, or a function, or use storage, because i only use it for some surface-level purpose
