@Tengu@nellePoint adults of every era always think that whatever the kids are into is cringe. even socrates thought reading and writing were cringe because everyone should just communicate face-to-face with their own internal reflections instead of relying on external sources. in the 18th century people thought novels were dumb and everyone should just read nonfiction. when animation was new everyone thought cartoons would rot your brain. same thing happened with video games. when i was a kid the constant commercialization of media properties trying to get you to buy toys was cringe. then anime was cringe. then youtubers were cringe. the cycle continues evermore
But then some pieces of media are just worthless cash grabs preying on children and their parents - and one should not decent them just because people thought other actually good media were shit.
