why do people use fedi like a blog, i don’t really get it. its social media, you gotta make friends and like- look for people and comment on things and stuff

if you want a blog make a blog i feel like.. idk. i guess part of that is just inherent to how this works but i don’t like it so much seeing as it’s also meant to be social

@nellePoint you’re always saying some stuff like this

the point i’m making is that seems to be the majority attitude and the culture here, which i think is bad for Social media. i knew some people who used twitter like a blog, but that wasn’t the majority attitude, and it didn’t bother me as much, but it’s just really hard to feel a sense of community when everyone is using it like this

@FawnOverFun i mean im not wrong, policing the way people treat their social media like this and wanting people to be put into boxes of use-style is the entire thing that this is supposed to be antithetical to.

what im saying is if you want to find people who use it the way you prefer to use it, you can do that, and if there are people who are using it in a way you dislike, you can avoid them. that is your choice as much as it is theirs.

@FawnOverFun people cant always afford to host a blog, or know how, or trust the services that exist for that.

if people want to use the fediverse for blogging purposes because they trust their friend or whoever happens to host the software more than anything else, and cant be bothered with the annoyances of normal blogging software, especially considering some fediverse software is made more for blogging like purposes (thinking wafrn being tumblr-like, which itself was based on the bloggin scene), then i think thats fine and we should let them do that.

and if people want to use it like twitter, which personally ive thought to be actively dangerous for people mentally (despite the fact that i use it this way, hypocritically), i think thats fine too.

@FawnOverFun i mean you have shit like loops which tries to make it tiktok like, which i personally think is dumb but whatever.
